Sugar is a familiar product that is used both by the food industry and to produce fuel ethanol. However, the processes used to extract sugar from sugar cane, sugar beet or grain frequently involve harsh conditions and uninterrupted production. Types of Valves for the Sugar Industry

What kind of valves are the most suitable ones for sugar industry? Sugar processing conditions are tough, requiring robustness, accuracy and reliability of the valves. The ‘sugar’ valves need to withstand continuous operation in high temperatures, and they need to handle erosive slurries fluids – not to mention the caustic and corrosive chemicals. Milling and extraction

The raw materials, sugarcane or sugar beet, are milled and then the sugar is extracted to produce a sugar-rich juice. Our butterfly valves keep your processes operating smoothly from start to finish, and deliver lower installed costs together with more up-time.

Filtration and chemical treatment

The juice is filtered and chemically treated to remove impurities. Our range of high-performance valves are built to perform reliably in these tough conditions, which involve high temperatures and corrosive chemicals.

Refining

The juice is further refined with more filtering, clarification and evaporation. From here the sugar can either be crystalized for use as sugar or concentrated into molasses to ferment into ethanol. We offers valves to handle all kinds of liquids, from viscous to volatile.

Valve Selection Principles
  • The model and performance of the selected valve can achieve the requirements of process parameters such as flow rate, pressure, working temperature, medium going through pipe etc

  • Corrugated pipe sealing design or leak-free valves are required for valves that transport flammable, explosive, toxic or valuable media,

  • Corrosive materials such as teflon are required for flow passage components for valves that transport corrosive media,

  • For valves containing solid particulate media, it is required that the flow passage component have to be made of wear-resistant material, and if necessary, the shaft seal should be flushed with a cleaning liquid.

  • When valve going through highly corrosive media (such as concentrated sulfuric acid, concentrated nitric acid), flammable and explosive media, and environment must not have any pollution, you can use a resilent valves.

  • Choosing the proper valve is crucial for you as it not only saving the cost, but the valve can work in a long service life.
